Workshop Details

We offer a middle school, high school, college, and adult courses focused on developing silent reading fluency, which is nothing more than efficient reading, combined with other lifelong skills such as study skills, time management, and test preparation strategies.

Corporate Workshops for groups of 15

The Literacy Academy offers speed reading and special customized workshops. Speed reading workshops can be conducted, on location, in morning or afternoon sessions of 3-hours, or a full-day session. Customized workshops focus on specific corporate, school or individual reading needs with a goal to improve participants' productivity and efficiency.

Our Corporate Workshops are designed for groups ranging from 15 to 40 participants. This ensures each participant will receive quality hands-on-training and 1-on-1 interaction with our certified instructors.

Silent Reading Fluency/Speed Reading Workshops

The Literacy Academy offers silent reading fluency/speed reading workshops designed for morning or afternoon sessions of 3-hours. You will learn powerful new and effective strategies that will enhance your reading skills by learning to read more than one word at a time without vocalizing, and learn new skills to read better and faster with improved comprehension, retention, and recall. You will learn how to unlearn the habits of slow (inefficient) readers and learn the habits and skills of rapid readers! Reading will become a pleasure rather than a chore.

Study Skills & Silent Reading Fluency for Middle/High School Students

The Literacy Academy teaches students how to read more efficiently as well as implement effective study skills, including: time management strategies; effective goal setting; memorization and organizational strategies; note-taking in class and from a textbook; combining notes from class and textbook; studying for tests; and, understanding key testing terms. We teach powerful new and effective strategies that will enhance your study skills by learning more efficient organization of your time and materials, as well as teaching new skills to help students read better and faster with improved comprehension, retention and recall.

SAT and ACT Test Preparation for High School & College Students

The Literacy Academy helps prepare students to have a better chance at getting a higher score when they learn how to read more efficiently with increased comprehension, retention and recall. The primary issue with standardized tests is not a lack of knowledge of the basic subject matter. It's that all standardized tests are basically reading tests as much as they are content tests. The major problem is not the challenge of content knowledge, but the lack of time for the test-taker to efficiently read the material and answer the questions. The Literacy Academy, in association with Cambridge Educational Services, offers all the test preparation materials you need to excel on the exam.

Seniors and Adults Silent Reading Fluency/Speed Reading Workshops

The Literacy Academy offers specially designed silent reading fluency/speed reading workshops to help enhance mental agility. In a 2007 study published in Neurology concluded that a cognitively inactive person was 2.6 times more likely to develop Alzheimer's Disease than a cognitively active person. Visual exercises boost reasoning skills, memory and mental processing speed, and staves off mental decline in middle-ages and elderly people. By honing these skills you can bolster the mind just as exercise protects and strengthens the body.
