Strategic Partners - In the process of researching, developing, beta-testing, and preparing for commercial introduction of The Reader's Edge®, The Literacy Company has been fortunate to have established strategic alliances with companies that have provided invaluable advice and counsel. They stand ready to aid and assist in positioning us as a leader in the field of teaching enhanced reading skills.

Content Providers - The Literacy Company is committed to provide users of The Reader’s Edge software with the widest possible selection of reading selections in order to enhance the progress of its students strive to learn how to read faster while improving comprehension and recall. Providing virtually unlimited reading selections ensures that The Reader’s Edge users will always be able to practice their skills with selections in which they are interested, and with which they have knowledge of the subject matter and vocabulary.

NASA
In addition to its Mission as the USA's space agency, NASA is specifically charged with the responsibility of providing a continuing supply of trained men and women for the Country's space program. Fulfilling that mission, NASA is involved with actively supporting schools (K-12, colleges and universities) in the areas of Math, Science and Reading. In April 2002 TLC was invited by NASA to give a presentation of The Reader's Edge?? program at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Pursuant to that goal, NASA chose TLC's Reader's Edge program as the leading program for teaching enhanced reading skills. On October 23, 2002, NASA signed a Memorandum of Understanding with TLC that authorized TLC to use NASA content for inclusion in its Reading Selections. In 2003, using The Reader's Edge software, TLC conducted a Fluent Reading program at the Murphy School District, Phoenix, AZ. As a reward to the students who completed the course, NASA provided a NASA Certificate of Completion for the TLC Fluent Reading Program.
Boys & Girls Clubs of America
The Literacy Company is pleased to list the Boys & Girls Clubs of America as a Strategic Partner. In conjunction with the B&G Clubs, The Literacy Company plans to introduce an 8-week pilot program to teach enhanced reading skills to 1,000 B&G Club members in three locations, Orlando, Detroit and Phoenix. Following this pilot program, in conjunction with corporate sponsors, The Literacy Company plans to donate its Reader's Edge software to the B&G Club for use by its total membership of 3 million members.
YMCA
The Literacy Company is pleased that the Valley of The Sun YMCA has selected The Reader's Edge program as part of its program with the i-Learn program, at several Phoenix metropolitan area YMCA teen centers. I-Learn is an innovative youth development program conducted in partnership with the Chandler Unified School District to address the high student dropout problem among Arizona high schools. The i-Learn program is designed for students who have been suspended or expelled for non-violent offenses, or have left school because of family obligations or pregnancy. The Reader's Edge program is being introduced because of the recognized importance of improving i-Learn student's reading abilities. The program employs a multimedia learning system using actual teachers and textbooks via a high-speed data connection. In addition to required courses, SAT/ACT and AIMS study programs are incorporated and upon completion, students are able to participate in actual graduation ceremonies.

NAWBO, National Association of Women Business Owners, is the largest organization of women business owners and the source of all statistics about women-owned businesses. NAWBO major sponsors include most of the Fortune 100 companies. TLC is a major NAWBO sponsor in Arizona and has joined with NAWBO in promoting the teaching of enhanced reading skills to the many NAWBO-supported groups.
No Child Left Behind Act
On Jan. 8, 2002, President Bush signed into law the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB). This new law changes the federal government's role in kindergarten-through-grade-12 education by asking America's schools to describe their success in terms of what each student accomplishes. The act contains the President's four basic education reform principles: 1) stronger accountability for results, 2) increased flexibility and local control, 3) expanded options for parents, and 4) an emphasis on teaching methods that have been proven to work. TLC is proud to be working with the Department of Education and the White House Initiative on Tribal Colleges and Universities for the introduction of The Reader?s Edge program into the Native American educational system, K-12 and college and all members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

The Herold Report, created by Linda Herold, is the leading networking publication for women, and businesses catering to women in Phoenix, Arizona. Included in their monthly newsletter is a 300-500 word essay/monograph that have received a great deal of publicity because of the strong motivational messages they convey. TLC is proud to have been authorized to include these essays in its list of Reading Selections.
