Age Level
The Reader's Edge® is designed for use by individuals of all ages. This
is accomplished by providing a wide range of reading selections which permit
you to choose reading selections, by reading levels, making the program suitable
for individuals of all ages, ranging from students to adult.
The Reader's Edge is not designed to teach you "how to read." Rather it
teaches "Read To Learn Skills." Individuals, of any age, with a minimum
level of reading ability, will experience dramatic improvement in their

Readability Analysis
One of the great features of The Reader's Edge® is the use
of Readability Analysis for each reading selection and comprehension
test. We analyze reading material using the Flesch-Kincaid Grade
Level. This helps you determine if a particular reading selection
is within their reading level.
Ability to Rate Reading Selections †
One of the unique features of The Reader's Edge® program is the ability for users to rate
reading selections and comprehension tests, so all users can benefit from the opinion of everyone.
† Feature requires Internet access.
Speed & Comprehension Tests
Our goal is to help you improve your reading skills. Testing is part
of that process. Some users know when their reading skills have
improved because they are able to read more in less time. However, we
still provide Speed & Comprehension Tests to help you measure
your progress to give you an idea of how fast you are reading.
Text-to-Speech Practice
Using Microsoft's Text-to-Speech technology, we provide beginning
readers and adults, who may have excellent speaking vocabularies,
but who have the problem of “I don’t know what the word looks like” to
improve their reading vocabulary by helping them learn what words
look and sound like. Readers are able to become familiar with the
oral pronunciation of words while seeing them displayed on the
computer screen.
Addditionally users can type words in our Text-to-Speech exercise
and have it read back to them. This helps individuals practice
writing and seeing common text like phone numbers and home addresses.
Ability to Set Content Preference
A unique feature in The Reader's Edge® is the ability for users to select
reading selections and comprehension tests based on their personal preference.
After selecting a Content Preference, the program is loaded with material
relating to the selected preference allowing users to begin working with the
program without the need to locate reading material that is of interest to them.
Some of the available content preferences include; Biographies, Business, Children's
Reading Level 2-4, Children's Reading Level 5-6, Personal Development, Tom Hopkin's
Edition and Young Adult Reading Level 7-12.
